Using a pocket pc phone, I often want to check my mail and send
replies. However, pocket outlook can't send or receive mail, just sync
with desktop outlook.

Is there a way to send and receive mail on my phone while away from my
pc and have it sync with my desktop when I return?

Simply use a POP-account on both devices. The server will synchronize the
e-mail with your desktop.

I cannot send outlook mail on my pocket pc. I can send via another pop3

That's normal (unless you're using Exchange)- Outlook mail is meant
to be synched with Outlook and then sent from the desktop.

Correct- POP has never really worked well with multiple devices,
since it's hard to keep track of what device has pulled what e-mails
and when.

The best multi-device solution, IMHO, is IMAP- that way every device
(desktop, laptop, PDA, phone, etc.) all sync with the e-mail server,
and all have access to the incoming, sent, (and even deleted!) e-mails,
as well as the current state (read or unread, replied to or not, etc.)

Device Center to sync. my pocket PC I found that it can only sync with Outlook. As I am not planning to buy MS Office, does it means I can not Windows XP? PocketPC Active Sync Discussions Windows XP (1) Windows Media (1) Windows Vista (1) Outlook (1) Office (1) Excel (1) Word (1) OEMs (1) and That won't help, since the device will only sync with Outlook on an XP machine as well (it will NOT sync with Outlook Express, which comes with XP.) You do not have to buy Office to get Outlook- Outlook is sold separately. Otherwise, if you wish to sync just to have a Backup, you sync with that over the internet, and use it's free web-based version of Outlook (Outlook Web Accress) on your Vista (or XP) PC. But on XP I can use Activesync
WMDC - Outlook has not been installed - it is! Mobile Apps I have a problem setting up what Outlook items to sync in WMDC. All the Outlook items are greyed out and underneath each item it says "Outlook has not been installed." Outlook 2007 is indeed installed. I uninstalled both Outlook and GroupWise, apparently there must be some sort of mapi conflict that I'm not sure how to resolve. I then reinstalled both Outlook and GroupWise, checking WMDC after each reinstall. Even with no trace of GroupWise on the computer, WMDC still said that Outlook was not installed and therefore could not select which items to sync. BTW, both Outlook
Notes and Files Relationships Mobile Apps Hi, I'm syncing Outlook 2007 on the PC with a PPC Pro 6 device O2 Stellar (HTC TyTn). We also use Exchange. Everything works fine except Outlook notes. I've chosen it under tools, options to sync and it does fine. I d like on device and PC. I appear to get a copy of all my Outlook notes in the device \ my documents folder on the PC as well as in Outlook. I just cannot undereatnd what is happening. I'd understand if Outlook notes and device sync'd and if files and files sync'd, but why do the device twice? If I delete the Notes out of files - they go out of Outlook? What's that all about? What is the relationship between notes and the fMy Documents \ notes location? cheers, Richard PocketPC Active Sync Discussions Outlook 2007 (1) Database (1) ActiveSync (1) TyTn (1) Windows (1) Herrera (1) FMy (1) Fb7ee7b4a220 can choose to sync the notes using the Notes function which will place them in Outlook in the correct folder. That does make a difference with some software. What are you trying to synchronize? Outlook is required to sync Contacts, Calendar and Tasks, but not to sync files or to install programs to it from the PC. Outlook on the desktop or the PDA is trying to connect? On the desktop Outlook will try to connect to the internet to retrieve email (if you have entered email for example.) Not really. The Windows Mobile equivalent of Palm Desktop is a combination of Outlook and Activesync (if you use WinXP, WMDC if you use Vista or 7.) Take a model because I want it completely separate from my phone. Yet every time I open Outlook it refuses to allow me to do anything because I do not want to use
