Mobile Apps - Programs contains Office Mobile, but not Excel Mobile or Word Mobile

I run Windows Mobile 6.1 on an HTC P6500.

I want Excel Mobile and Word Mobile to appear in my start menu.

That menu is formed by ticking boxes in Start/Settings/Personal/Menus.
Menus contains "Office Mobile" but not "Excel Mobile" or "Word Mobile".
The boxes in Menus are mostly in Start/Programs.

What do I have to do to have Excel Mobile and Word Mobile appear in
Start/Settings/Personal/Menus?
I want this to reduce the clicks to swap to Excel or Word.

start/settings/personal/menus

You can put any program that shows in the programs folder into the top
start menu level, but the number of programs is limited... if you reach
that limit, you will have to remove other programs before adding new ones.

You can move or copy the Word/Excel shortcuts to the device's \Windows\Start
Menu\Programs folder, (using either the device's File Manager or the PC's
when cradled) then select them in the Menu applet to move them to the Start
Menu.  (Avoid the temptation to copy/move them directly to the Start Menu
folder- that can be unpredictable sometimes- best let the device handle that
itself with the "Menu" function.)

You refer to using "... the device's File Manager or the PC's when
cradled ...". I have recently moved from cradling to a PC with XP and
ActiveSync to another with Vista and "Windows Mobile Device Center" [sic
- UK spells centre]. It is the first significant improvement I have seen
in Vista - communication is via a "Portable Device" in "Computer" rather
than a desktop shortcut to a folder. For me, that device is called
My XP folder is "HTC_P6500 My Documents".

I cannot find things on the portable device with "Start/Search/For Files
or Folders...". e.g., I could not find "Programs" on it. What are the
limits of this?

I had an Excel macro to copy a file to "HTC_P6500 My Documents" on XP
with Activesync. I find I cannot see "IBM's P6500" - "IBM" when browsing
to set up a desktop shortcut to emulate the XP ActiveSync behavior (sic
;) Am I right in inferring this cannot be done?

The pocketpc search function finds only files and other data located in
the "My Documents" folder, so, it is very limited.  There are other
search options such as resco's file explorer that are close to the
windows desktop file explorer capabilities.

In addition, finding what programs have been installed on the ppc is
easiest with start/settings/system/...programs

it is nice to hear that someone thinks Vista's WMD is an "improvement" <grin>
